Brendan Fraseris confirming reports that a newMummysequel is in the works, and offering insight on what fans can expect.
In a Wednesday, May 6 appearance onThe Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Fraser, 57, confirmed the film would bring back the original cast and even let slip that they would return to some of the original locations.
"Well, we're gonna get the band back to gether — the only way to do it, right? So, we're going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for for the last 20-whatever years," Fraser said.

DeadlineandThe Hollywood Reporterearlier reported that Fraser andRachel Weiszwereexpected to reprise their rolesin a film to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette. They previously directed recent horror films likeReady or Not, theScreamreboots andAbigail. Plot details and a potential release date had not been revealed at the time.
Speaking to Fallon, Fraser said he wasn't sure that the film would ever get off the ground, alluding to the fact that earlier attempts to resurrect the franchise had taken place.
Following 1999'sThe Mummy, directed by Stephen Sommers, came 2001'sThe Mummy Returnsstarring Dwayne Johnson and without Fraser. For a 2008 sequel,Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Fraser returned, though Weisz's character was recast with Maria Bello. Tom Cruise led a reboot ofThe Mummyin 2017, though it ultimately didn't connect at the box office.

"I was hopeful for a long while," Fraser said of the sequel, adding: "OtherMummymovies got made..."
He continued: "What we're gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations ... I should probably stop talking like this before I give anything away. However, I know that — please wish me luck. I'm doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape."
Fraser added that to get in character for the role, he visitedThe Mummyride at Universal Studios, even showing the audience a photo taken while he was on the rollercoaster.
